What it is

PodFocus flips the usual kids-media model: instead of an algorithm deciding what plays next, the parent picks every show, and kids get complete freedom inside that hand-picked library. Each kid gets their own profile with favorites and listening history; parents get a PIN-locked Parent Zone with daily listening-time limits. Episodes download for offline listening, it works with CarPlay, and the whole family stays in sync across devices — including a kid's own iPad.

There are no ads, no third-party tracking, and no analytics. The App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected.” The app is free, with no subscription.

Why it exists

Before her two boys came along, Marcelina Knitter worked as a senior designer and front-end developer. Then life got wonderfully busy — nearly seven years of raising two kids, with small side projects tucked into the margins between bedtimes.

Her boys love stories and podcasts. What she never loved was handing them over to an algorithm — an app deciding what a five-year-old should hear next, an autoplay queue she hadn't seen, ads she couldn't screen. She looked for a podcast app she could simply hand to a kid. It didn't exist. So she built it.

“I wanted to be the one choosing — so I built PodFocus. I pick the shows; my kids get the freedom to enjoy anything they like from the list. Curated by me, but at the end fully theirs.”

PodFocus is the first release from Venture Ink Labs, her one-person studio building private-by-design apps for families.
